How….why….

Last time I checked in to my dermatologists office for a biopsy follow up I was given an iPad and asked to agree to several not HIPAA or immediate treatment related agreements.

They're using a new system and If you do not agree to have all of your previous and future medical records, appointment transcripts, and possible likeness for some reason be processed and used for training an A.I. system for the company they're using you have to pay a $6 fee to be billed through the mail. All of their online billing requires those total agreements for some reason.

I was told to download their app instead and pay that way when I said how absolutely insane that was and didn't agree.

You can't use their app for billing either unless you do another A.I. agreement for that same company and in their privacy section states "limited" information is available to "trusted medical vendors for advertising" that you can not specifically opt out of outside of CA and if you don't agree it just doesn't let you use it.

It was $2 before this change, it's $6 now, and I have to find a new dermatologist because jfc

Edit: Forgot to mention when I got into the room they wanted to take a face photo with an iPad for my profile picture on my records profile and when I asked if it's for the AI thing they didn't take the photo. So I'm working off the assumption they probably just ignore if you opt out or not and it's up to that company to actually hold up on their end that you didn't agree. Either way I'll never know. Very cool times we're living in.

Edit 2: After asking around elsewhere I was told that there's a possibility that it might be a hipaa compliant company using completely anonymized or deidentified data fed into an LLM that a third party may use for statistics but they still have to tell you it could be used for it at some point. But also said if you're ever part of another medical breech it's very possible to link that back to you. I personally do not think that matters if it's anonymized or not because there's basically nothing I could do about it anyway if it was ever used in a fucked up way.....just tell me what the fuck I owe you without having to agree to babysit some third party AI company TOS for the foreseeable forever until it ultimately also gets breeched like everywhere else does. It's not just the 6$ it's the principal of the thing.

Got the sheet Monday after school, for field day Wednesday. I went to two different stores looking for a boys or neutral plain purple t-shirt for my kid and found nothing. I don’t envy the hot pink boys.(edit: NOTHING WRONG WITH PINK! lol! Just think most won’t already have it, and it’ll be even harder to find than a purple shirt)

Rather than waste time I opted to dye an old shirt. Whoever came up with these colors must have been very creative, but didn’t put a lot of logic in their choices. It’s not the end of the world if a kid doesn’t wear the right color, but I still want my kid (who already struggles) to feel included and have fun.

As the title says Lowe's has now started selling spray painted plants. They say the plant will "grow out of it normally" but as you can see by the pictures the paint is suffocating the plant. This honestly reminds me of when stores where selling dyed chickens that people would throw out once they molted.

Yup, just like the title stated. I know it will look fine even without it, but I think I’m at that tipping point cause I just feel like I’m losing everything (ex. I can’t find my dang wallet). And what makes me more mad I JUST OPENED IT no one else had touched it other than me :( I guess I’m just sad cause the Lego set isn’t going to look as cohesive as I wanted it to.

Also mildy infuriating because I got reminded I live in Manchester as soon as I woke up :(

I found a Robins nest behind my work, set up a camera to watch them hatch. I was having a blast, I loved watching them grow up, they were getting pretty close to having their feathers in and should’ve been leaving the nest within a few more days. I checked the camera this morning and saw it was empty, went back and checked the footage and I’m devastated. The hawk first showed up while I was still at work, I’m usually off at 5 but I stayed late, I’m just in shock. This totally sucks, I know it’s nature but I loved those birds.

We don't shame handicapped people enough. 🤣

I've got MS and I have trouble walking and I pull up to my doctor's appointment and I see a car with a handicap placard parked like this.

There could be something where this person needs to parking spaces but the Optics aren't good for the handicap community. We already get enough crap for not looking handicapped enough to have handicap parking.

What the hell?

Edit: I did not expect this post to blow up. I just thought it was a funny picture. I just wanted to say there's a lot of posts calling this guy a jerk and an asshole. I can speak from experience that being handicapped sometimes makes you an asshole. I have been known to have bad days and be angry at the world because I'm handicapped. So all I'm saying is maybe he wasn't an asshole before and his handicapped made him an asshole. Because I definitely wasn't an asshole before but now I am sometimes 😅

I've had Prime for years and mostly used Prime Music for podcasts because it was included. Just got an email saying they're adding ads and removing downloads unless I upgrade to Music Unlimited.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but paying for a subscription and then being told I need another subscription to keep the features I already had is getting a little ridiculous.

For reference, I haven't missed a single day of work this year, I work 7 hours of OT every week (never came to work late once this year), and I took a half day of PTO for a pretty serious health emergency last month.

I also work for a staffing agency and they are notorious for not giving PTO to clients but I've worked with them for 5+ years and still had to negotiate a PTO plan with the agency and all my higher ups.

This shit sucks, I haven't taken a full day off in over a year and a half, and I can't fly to London to vacation because flights cost a small fortune due to Americas war crimes messing up the fuel economy around the world. Just all-around terrible.

Am I over reacting? My girlfriend in London gets 25 days off to start the year and here I am slaving away in America for fucking what?

I booked a flight operated by Air Canada on Air Canada website, but it is not letting me select my seat. What's even more hilarious is that they are asking me to select the seat with the airline operating the flight, which is Air Canada.

I called the call centre and they also have no idea why this is happening. It's been more than a week and still not fixed.
